My Personal Example
I never drink coffee. Still, on my first business trip to New Orleans, I couldn’t resist stealing away to the French Quarter with several colleagues. At the Café du Monde, we ordered their famous chicory coffee and beignets. I took my coffee au lait, but still had trouble drinking more than a few sips of the bitter brew. But, no surprise, I loved the square powdered donuts known as beignets. I left the city a few days later knowing I’d honored one of New Orleans’ fabled traditions. Almost every city or region in the world offers food or drink specialties. If the preparation method is safe, we usually try at least a sample.
