About the event

In 2023, The Charles Bruce Foundation supported eight authors as they collaborated on American Roulette, a novel which follows eight people who find themselves involved in a mass shooting. Storytelling and art are both powerful mediums for exploring difficult subjects. In the spirit of this novel with multiple authors and perspectives, multiple artists will share their responses to gun violence in America in American Roulette: A Novel Approach to Conversations about Gun Violence.  The goal of this exhibit is to be a catalyst for local and regional conversations fueled by this national crisis. Difficulty arises when opinions are strong and at odds and because of the continuous barrage of stories and statistics, it’s easy to become numb and tune out the tragedy. Half of any effective conversation is listening. How can we become better listeners in the conversation around gun violence in America?  In addition to submitting work to the exhibit, artists are asked to provide a one-sentence response to the question- How can we listen? – which will be displayed next to the artwork in the exhibit.  Submissions accepted online through Friday, April 26, 2024.  This exhibit is in collaboration with The Charles Bruce Foundation and Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center

Exhibit Location: Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) 1110 N. 3rd Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102
